Mobula

Dialga's second-generation autonomous vessel for Njord 2027, with an onboard drone that gives it an aerial view of its own surroundings.

Mobula

Mobula is the boat we are building now — the second-generation vessel from Dialga, the team Andreas and I founded as Ligmax, aimed at the Njord Challenge in 2027.

The headline difference is a dedicated onboard drone, which lets the vessel look at itself and its surroundings from above instead of only from deck height.

Second time round

Building a successor is a different kind of engineering from building a first boat. You already know which of your decisions were wrong, and the job is being honest about them rather than defending them.

Ligmax finished Njord 2026 fourteenth, not because the tasks were beyond it but because we could not keep the hardware alive after the boat flooded on day one. Saltwater ingress took out both lidars and eventually the BMS. That is the thing I am designing against this time: sealing, separation, and electronics that survive getting wet rather than merely trying not to.

Still two people, so the scope has to be chosen carefully.

The systems

The vessel splits into hull and propulsion, the autonomy stack, and a ground station, with the drone operating in sync with all three. The full breakdown, including the development roadmap, is at mobula.no.
