LEGO robotics
Where it began — building robots at eight, before I knew that was a thing people did as a job.
Around eight to ten years old I was building robots out of LEGO, at the same time as I was making crossbows out of wood. Both were the same instinct: work out how a mechanism should behave, then make one and find out whether you were right.
It is on this site because it is honestly where the thread starts. Everything further up the list is the same activity with better tools and higher stakes.
