Elektraverkstedet

Running the student makerspace at Linjeforeningen Elektra — tools, training, budget, and a seat on the board that comes with it.

Elektraverkstedet — EV — is the workshop and makerspace at Linjeforeningen Elektra, the student association for electronics at NTNU. For the 2025–2026 term I led it, which also put me on Elektra's main board and made me the association's representative towards other linjeforeninger at NTNU.

What the job actually is

Keeping a workshop alive is mostly logistics and judgement: deciding what to buy with a finite budget, keeping machines serviced, training people so they do not hurt themselves or the equipment, and setting rules that people will actually follow rather than route around.

The goal I cared about was simple — a member should be able to take a project from an idea to a finished physical object without leaving the building. That means the machines have to work, the consumables have to be there, and somebody has to have thought about it in advance.

The board side

Sitting on the main board meant arguing the workshop's corner in budget rounds, and representing Elektra externally. Useful practice in making a technical case to people who are not going to be persuaded by enthusiasm alone.
